Sony Cybershot DSC-W80!!!
With the PMA 2007 show coming up the first PMA rumors are showing up in the numerous Internet forums and blogs. One of the rumors is a possible new Sony Cybershot digital camera introduction; the Sony Cybershot DSC-W80. Although the information is not official yet, the image of the Sony W80 seems to be an official product shot. Since we are not working under NDA with Sony nor have we given any inside information, we feel free to share our findings, like the unofficial news of the Sony DSC W80 camera, with you. It seems that the new Sony Cyber-shot W80 incorporates a 7.2 effective Megapixel CCD image sensor and a 3x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 35 – 105mm (equivalent with 35 mm camera).
First information learns that the new Sony Cybershot W80 has a very slim housing and compact dimensions. Normally we would expect a Cybershot camera to use Memory Stick media as their main storage medium so it would be logical to claim the Sony W80 is using Memory Duo or Memory Stick Pro Duo for storage. The new Cybershot camera looks very similar to that of the Sony Cybershot W55 camera that was introduced in January, but well we may see some innovative features hidden inside the Sony W80.

Unfortunately there is way too much compression. Unless you know how to work manual settings, you will be seriously upset to find clumpy, loss of detail images. If you are an ‘auto’ type of person, don’t buy this camera. This Cybershot is another one of those cameras which employs way too much compression (again justifiable through manual settings). It’s a workable camera which in all of my efforts does not support RAW extracting.
