This is an odd one – a mobile phone that’s designed to sit on a desk and operate as a speakerphone, rather than actually go anywhere. The beast in question is called the Conference Speakerphone and is the result of a collaboration between Panasonic and Willcom, Japan’s last remaining operator to use the old PHS standard.
The ¥100,000 phone has a SIM card, a speaker and microphone on each of its four corners and an SD card slot for recording conversations digitally. The only thing preventing users picking up the jumbo mobile and going walkabout is that it has no battery and needs to be plugged into the mains.

Hey peeps, now you can use your cellphone as a credit card. The cell phone can now replace your wallet altogether with its credit card like features. Cingular, Nokia, Citibank and Mastercard are working together to bring a NFC based credit card cell phone in NYC.
Many people fear that this system may help thieves in stealing data more conveniently, as this has been designed for making transactions easier. It is reported that there are some security flaws in the currently available Paypass Mastercard system. If you are interested in taking part in the trial visit www.nyctrial.com by December 20th.

Inspite of having a security code on your phone, you might be worried that someone might steal your phone, break the code and make lots of calls through your phone. A new type of lock code has just been created by OKI.
A Japanese company called OKI has created a software which can lock your phone until and unless your iris is recognized. You just have to pick the phone, stick it on to your face and take a picture of your eye. If your iris is recognized then the code of your phone is broken. It is slated for a March release next year.

Synchronica has come up with the Mobile Manager software, which when installed on your phone, can remotely lock or delete data from your phone to ensure that cell phone thieves don’t have access to sensitive information on your device. And when remotely activated, the software can make the phone play a female scream designed to alert people that the phone’s been stolen.
And the only way to disable the scream is to reflash the internal memory of the phone. Otherwise, removing the battery or shutting off the phone will disable the scream, but render the phone useless. Sounds good…
